The Navy and Coast Guard launched a special operation on the night of July 8 to chase away Indian vessels engaged in illegal fishing off Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Navy said in a statement. The statement said that 15 Indian nationals have been arrested in the operation carried out on Delft Island in Jaffna.

It said the arrested fishermen and the fishing vessels seized from them have been brought to Kankesanthurai port and handed over to Malady Fisheries Inspectorate for further legal proceedings.
