Asia cup: Afghanistan announced the team for the Asia Cup, this player returned after 6 years


Kabul: Afghanistan Cricket has announced the 17-member squad for Asia Cup 2023. All-rounder Karim Janat has returned to this team after 6 years. Apart from this, left-handed batsman Najibullah Zadran has also been included in the 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. Left-handed batsman Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead Afghanistan in the Asia Cup cricket tournament to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17.

Mohammad Salim Safi and Abdul Rehman, who were part of the team during the recently concluded ODI series against Pakistan, have been retained but Fareed Ahmed and Loyal Momand have been dropped.

All-rounder Azmatullah Umarzai has not been included in the team due to injury. The 25-year-old Janat made his ODI debut in 2017 against Zimbabwe in Harare but has not played a single ODI since then. Although he represented Afghanistan in one Test and 49 T20 matches.
