Asian Games 2023: India’s medal assured in squash; Deepika, Harinderchi Last Farewell Dhadak


Pudhari Online Desk: Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Harinder Pal Sandhu defeated Hong Kong’s Yi Li and Chi Him Wong to enter the final round of the mixed doubles event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou today (Dec. 4). Therefore, one more medal is assured for India in Squash. The Indian pair achieved its best performance in three games by 7-11, 11-7, 11-9 in 38 minutes.

India would have trailed 5-8 in the opening game, but then the rivals would have been evenly matched by Rokhle. Still, Hong Kong won the opening game. Harinder and Deepika gave a strong fight for the next two games. The last game was tied at 9-9, with Sutla and Sandhu winning the next two points and India secured the last round.

Meanwhile, Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh, India’s second mixed doubles pair, will play in the second half today. India has previously won a gold medal in the men’s event and a bronze medal in the women’s event.
