Asian Games: Sri Lanka beats Pakistan by six wickets, will clash with India in the final


hangzhou (Uttam Hindu News): In the second semi-final match of Women’s Cricket T-20 in the Asian Games, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by six wickets on Sunday and entered the final where it will face the Indian team, the winner of the first semi-final on Monday.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Ground this morning. Coming to bat first, Pakistan team could score only 75 runs after losing nine wickets in the stipulated overs. For Pakistan, Shawal Zulfika scored the maximum 16 runs. Muniba Ali contributed 13 runs and Omaima Sohail was caught out by Perera on 10 runs by Ranaweera. Apart from these three batsmen, no one from his team could score double figures.

For Sri Lanka, Udeshika Prabodhini took the maximum of three wickets for 31 runs. Kavisha Dilhari took two wickets for 15 runs while Inoshi Priyadarshini, Achini Kulasuriya and Inoka Ranaweera got one wicket each. Sri Lanka bowled well and gave only one extra run.

After that, Sri Lankan team’s openers Chamari Atapattu and Anushka Sanjivani, who came to bat, batted cautiously and added 17 runs for the first wicket. Sri Lanka’s first wicket fell in the form of Chamari Atapattu (14). Sadia Iqbal got him caught out by Diana Baig. The second wicket fell in the form of Anushka Sanjeevani (15) runs, she was caught by Diana Baig at the hands of Nashra Sandhu. Harshitha Samarawickrama scored the team’s highest score (23) and was run out by Sidra Amin for the fourth wicket. Earlier, Vishmi Gunaratna was stumped by Umm Hani at the hands of Muniba Ali. Neelakshi de Silva (18 runs) and Hasini Perera (one run) remained unbeaten. Pakistani bowlers gave six runs as extra. Sri Lankan team won the match by six wickets by scoring 77 runs in 16.3 overs.
