London . Jonny Bairstow’s controversial dismissal on the final day of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s has raised tensions between England and Australia. The already extremely competitive atmosphere of the Ashes 2023 series has become even worse.

Both the captains have already shared their protest over Bairstow’s dismissal. Stokes made it clear that he would not want to “win games that way”.

Australia’s captain Pat Cummins, on the other hand, said, “It was completely fair play. That’s the rule.”

Earlier England coach Brendon McCullum said he “can’t imagine having a beer with the Australian players”. Australia coach Andrew McDonald hit back, describing the comments as ‘disappointing’.

The controversial dismissal of Bairstow was also criticized by the British media, calling it ‘pathetic’ and accusing Cummins of flouting the ‘code of honor and decency’.

On the other hand, the Australian media hit back on Tuesday morning, labeling Ben Stokes and his team as ‘crybabies’.

An Australian publication published a picture of Stokes crawling on the ground in a nappy and wrote: Cheating UK players take complaint to new level.

Responding to the post, Stokes wrote: “It’s definitely not me, when I bowled with the new ball.”

Even the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined the controversy. He has said on his Twitter account that Australia stands with its national cricket team.

Albanese said, “I am proud of the men’s and women’s cricket teams, who have won their first two Ashes matches against England.” (IANS)
