Recalling the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Lal Krishna Advani, who started the Ram Rath Yatra in the year 1990, has said that the primary objective of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement was the reconstruction of Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya and it was ‘the real meaning of secularism which has fallen victim to the attack of pseudo-secularism. It also became a symbol of re-establishment. In an article titled ‘Shri Ram Mandir: ‘Fulfillment of a Divine Dream’ written by Advani and shared by his office, the BJP leader said that during the movement, an important debate started in the country on the difference between real secularism and pseudo secularism.
Advani said, ‘On the one hand, the movement had widespread public support, on the other hand, most political parties were hesitant in supporting the movement because they were afraid of losing Muslim votes. They got trapped in the greed of vote-bank politics and started justifying their actions in the name of secularism. Veteran leader Advani has written that before the special occasion of 22nd January, the atmosphere of the entire country has become truly festive. It is a moment of satisfaction for him not only as a proud member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and BJP, but also as a proud citizen of our glorious motherland. He said that he is blessed to be witness to this historic moment in his lifetime. He said that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi performs the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the idol of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, he will represent every citizen of our great India.
He said that it is my firm belief and also my hope that this temple will inspire all Indians to adopt the qualities of Shri Ram. I also pray that our great country not only continues to move ahead on the path of becoming a global power but also presents itself as an excellent example of dignity and decorum in all spheres of life. He said that on one hand, while a long legal battle was going on, on the other hand, not only he, but every worker of BJP and Sangh Parivar was engaged in the work of awakening the souls of Indians so that Ram Lalla can be seated at his real abode. May the dream come true.
He said that now that the grand Shri Ram temple is in the final stages of its construction, he is grateful to the present government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all organizations, especially Vishwa Hindu Parishad and countless allies of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bharatiya Janata Party, Rath Yatra , is filled with a deep sense of gratitude towards the saints, leaders, kar sevaks and all the people of India and the world who have made valuable contributions and sacrifices to the Ayodhya movement for many decades.
In his article in ‘Rashtra Dharma’ magazine, construction of Ram temple is a ‘fulfillment of a divine dream’, 96-year-old Lal Krishna Advani, remembering the Rath Yatra taken out 33 years ago, wrote that he believes that the Ayodhya movement was ‘the most decisive’ in his political journey. and a transformative event’ that gave him the opportunity to ‘rediscover India and, in the process, re-understand himself’. The senior BJP leader, who was at the forefront of the Ram Mandir movement, also remembered former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that he was missing him before the grand consecration program of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. In one of his articles, Advani has mentioned that current Prime Minister Narendra Modi was with him during the entire Rath Yatra.
According to the source, Advani said that he was not very famous then. But at the same time Lord Ram had chosen his devotee (Modi) to rebuild his temple. Advani said, ‘At that time I felt that destiny had decided that one day a grand temple of Shri Ram would definitely be built in Ayodhya.’ He said, ‘Well, now it’s only a matter of time.’
He said, ‘During the Rath Yatra, there were many experiences which influenced my life. Unknown people from far-flung villages used to come to me overwhelmed with emotion after seeing the chariot. He would bow, chant the name of Lord Ram and leave.
He said, ‘It was a message that there were many people who had dreamed of a Ram temple… With the consecration of the temple on January 22, the buried desires of those villagers will also be fulfilled.
Regarding Rath Yatra, Advani writes in his book ‘My Country My Life’ that one evening Kamala and I were sitting at home and heard that Pramod Mahajan was one of the four general secretaries of BJP. He came and started telling how Vishwa Hindu Parishad would carry out the Kar Seva programme. Then I told Pramod Mahajan that I was planning a padyatra. Which will start from Somnath and end in Ayodhya. Pramod Mahajan, after calculating the impact and days of the Yatra, suggested that the Yatra would have a limited benefit. One must travel by car or jeep. I said that due to this, contact and communication with the common people will not be possible. Pramod Mahajan suggested Rath Yatra as an alternative, saying that it is for Ram temple. The journey can be started by taking a mini bus or truck and giving it a new shape.
When the Rath Yatra started from Somnath temple on 25th September, Pramod Mahajan and Narendra Modi were with me. Apart from these, there was my family and Vijay Raje Scindia and Sikandar Bakht. A large number of people were present and slogans were raised – Jai Shri Ram Saungadh Ram ki Khate Hain, temple will be built there. Pramod Mahajan told me that the people of Gujarat are religious, hence the crowd is more, nothing can be said about the future.
As the Rath Yatra moved from Gujarat to Maharashtra and then to other states, the presence and enthusiasm of the people there proved Pramod Mahajan wrong. I also realized that I am just a charioteer, an instrument, the result of people’s faith in Ayodhya and Ram.
The love of Rath Yatra started with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Lal Krishna Advani and his associates in that Yatra were Late Pramod Mahajan and Narendra Modi, the present Prime Minister of India and the countrymen of all the people related to the Yatra, especially Ram devotees who have faith in Hindu religion. Will be indebted to these people. The names of those who sacrificed their lives in the movement for Ram Mandir Janmabhoomi will be written in golden letters in history. As a result of the Ayodhya movement, with the Pran Pratistha program to be held on 22nd January, the chains of centuries of mental slavery will also be broken. Every Indian should connect with his glorious past and resolve to work for a culturally strong India whose foundation is based on the dignity of Ram Temple. This is the need of the hour.
