‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ trailer takes viewers back to 1970s Mumbai

Mumbai: The trailer of the upcoming streaming series ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ was unveiled in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Monday.The crime thriller series also stars KK Menon, Avinash Tiwari, Kritika Kamra and Nivedita Bhattacharya along with Amyra Dastur in lead roles.Trailer of It begins with an amazing scene of 1970’s Mumbai, in which the entire city of Mumbai is visible. It traces the life of Dara Qadri (played by Avinash), a criminal, born to an honest officer in the Mumbai Police force (played by Kay Kay Menon).

In the trailer, Dara encounters people like Haji (inspired by Don Haji Mastan and played by Saurabh Sachdeva) and goes deep into the crime scene. The styling, lighting, BGM, DI, photography, angles and production design in the trailer Several retro elements are included. The trailer gives viewers a glimpse of the pain that a father goes through when he sees his family falling apart due to lost ethos, greed and corruption.

It is also reminiscent of Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’, though the premise is different but the broad brush strokes on the canvas look similar. Talking about his role in the upcoming series, KK Menon Said: ‘My character Ismail Qadri is complex. He is an honest policeman and a kind father. On the one hand, he is determined to rid the city of Bombay of all crime, on the other, to save his family, he is forced to become a pawn of the city’s crime syndicate.’

‘ Even as Ismail fights against all odds to avoid succumbing to the evil around him, he sees his own blood rising as the city’s new gang leader. Shujaat and Rensil’s vision for the character was so clear and precise that it was easy for me to play the role. Prime Video and Excel Entertainment, Rensil and Shujaat, thank you for making me a part of such a heartwarming story.

The series is set in the world of 1970s Mumbai, where gang wars, crime and betrayal were commonplace. Against this backdrop, the fictional series follows the story of an honest cop who sees his son choose a path of crime to overcome a life of poverty and struggle.

The story of the show is based on crime journalist and author S.K. Written by Hussain Zaidi, the series is created by Rensil D’Silva and Shujaat Saudagar and directed by Shujaat Saudagar. Produced by Excel Media & Entertainment, the show is all set to premiere on Prime Video on 14th September.
