The Chandrayaan-3 mission of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has been launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota on July 14 at 2.35 pm. The lander will take approximately 42 days to complete its journey to the Moon. If ISRO successfully completes this mission, India will join the elite list of three other countries, the United States of America, the erstwhile Soviet Union and most recently China, who have managed to soft-land on the Moon. Both the United States and the Soviet Union crashed several spacecraft before successfully landing on the Moon. China was the only country to succeed in its first attempt with the Chang’e-3 mission in 2013.

The spacecraft has successfully lifted off from Earth and is now orbiting the planet on its journey towards the Moon. According to Chandrayaan’s project director P Veeramuthuvel, it consists of a number of critical events, including earth-bound manoeuvres, insertion into lunar orbit, separation of the lander, a set of deboost maneuvers and the power descent stage for soft landing. The whole world is saluting ISRO’s historic flight. Those countries and countries are also among those who congratulate, who often taunt India’s success. Now seeing this flight of India, China has also praised it.
