China upholds four respect policies towards Pacific island nations: Xi Jinping

Chinese President Xi Jinping, during his meeting with visiting Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare in Beijing on July 10, stressed that China adheres to the Four Adequate Respect for Pacific Island Countries.
Xi pointed out that China and the island countries of the Pacific Ocean are all developing countries. We should strengthen mutual assistance within the framework of South-South cooperation. China adheres to the four respect policies. First, the sovereignty and independence of island countries, second, the will of island countries, third, fully respect the cultural traditions of island countries Fourth, fully respect the joint empowerment of the island countries.
