Pakistan’s Supreme Court has been informed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan is being provided with all facilities in jail according to his stature and legal status and is being served country chicken and mutton cooked in ghee. This information was given in a media report on Tuesday. Khan was arrested from his Lahore residence shortly after an Islamabad court found him guilty of corruption in the Toshakhana corruption case and has been lodged in Attock Jail in Punjab province since August 5. Khan and his family were sentenced by the court on charges of illegally selling government gifts received during his tenure from 2018-2022.

The Supreme Court was informed on Monday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was lodged in Attock jail, The News International newspaper reported, amid the suspension of Khan’s sentence by the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday. All facilities are being provided according to their stature and legal status. The Attorney General’s office has submitted a report to the Supreme Court on behalf of the jail superintendent after seeking a report on the PTI chief’s living conditions. The most secure prison block number 02, the report said, had been vacated and a section with four cells had been declared a high-vigilance block to house Khan. The report further said that in this block It was whitewashed, its floor was paved and a ceiling fan was also installed inside it.

It said that Khan is being served country chicken meat twice a week as per his wish and goat meat (mutton) is also being served cooked in ghee. The list of food served to the former prime minister includes bread, omelette, curd and tea for breakfast while fresh fruits, vegetables, pulses and rice are served for lunch and dinner. According to the report, Khan has been provided with a sleeping mattress, four pillows, a table, chair, prayer mat and cooler, apart from TV, newspapers, four copies of the Quran translated into English and 25 books on Islamic history.
