FPI sold shares worth Rs 15,817 crore in August

New Delhi (Best Hindu News): FPIs sold shares worth Rs 15,817 crore in the cash market till August 26. Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services V.K. Vijayakumar has said this. The FPI sale that began in early August is continuing. However, as of August 26, FPI investments stood at Rs 10,689 crore, consolidated NSDL data showed.

But this figure includes investments through the primary market and wholesale deals, which have been picking up pace recently. In the cash market, FPIs have sold shares worth Rs 15,817 crore till August 26. He said strengthening of the dollar index around 104 and US 10-year bond yield hovering around 4.25 per cent is a short-term negative for FPI flows into emerging markets like India.

An important feature of FPI investments is their frequent purchases in capital goods. And, more recently, they have started selling in the financial sector. He said that given the strong dollar and rising US bond yields, FPIs are likely to continue selling in the cash market in the near term.

Poor monsoon in August that inflation may remain high is becoming a concern, affecting market sentiment. He said, this may also affect FPI investment.
