Gabriel Jesus’ entry in Brazil for World Cup qualifiers


Rio de Janeiro Gabriel Jesus has been named in Brazil’s squad for World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru by the South American country’s football federation. The Arsenal forward has replaced Manchester United winger Antony, reports Xinhua. Who was dropped from the team after his ex-girlfriend accused him of misconduct.

Jesus starred on his return from a knee injury in Arsenal’s 3-1 home win over Manchester United in the English Premier League on Sunday. The 26-year-old hasn’t played for Brazil since last year’s World Cup in Qatar. In a statement, the Brazilian federation said the decision to exclude Antony came amid allegations that “require investigation”.

The 23-year-old posted a message on social media calling the allegations “false” and vowing to prove his innocence. Brazil will take on Bolivia in Belem on Friday and Peru on September 12 in Lima.
