Google, HP start manufacturing Chromebook in India – Dainik Savera Times

New Delhi: Google has started manufacturing Chromebooks in India in collaboration with HP. The personal computer (PC) manufacturer gave this information on Monday. Chromebook devices are being manufactured at the Flex plant near Chennai. There HP is producing laptop and desktop series since August, 2020.

Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai said in a post on ‘X’ on Monday, “We are partnering with HP to manufacture Chromebooks in India. Chromebooks are being produced for the first time in India. This will provide access to affordable and secure computing for Indian students.

An HP spokesperson confirmed that Chromebook production has begun in India. New Chromebooks are available online. Their price starts from Rs 15,990. HP is also an applicant in the government’s Rs 17,000 crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

A joint statement issued by Google and HP said that Chromebook is a leading tool for education till 12th. More than five crore students and teachers worldwide are benefiting from this. Local production of Chromebooks expands HP’s PC portfolio in India.
