Jaipur: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that the government intends to double the turnover of the automobile industry to Rs 15 lakh crore. At present the turnover of the automobile industry is Rs 7.5 lakh crore. Addressing a public meeting in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district to list the achievements of the central government in the last nine years, Gadkari also targeted the Congress, saying that in the name of removing poverty, Congress leaders ended their own poverty. He said, “The turnover of the automobile industry is Rs 7.55 lakh crore and four and a half crore people have got jobs in this sector. This industry pays the highest Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the government. We have decided that we will make this industry worth Rs 15 lakh crore. ” He said that this industry will create ten crore jobs.

He said that India has overtaken Japan in vehicle manufacturing and has come to the third position globally after China and the US. Emphasizing on the importance of education, he said, “Knowledge is a great power and converting knowledge into wealth is our future.” He said that farmers today are not only food providers but also energy providers by producing ethanol and solar energy. are also He said that vehicles from auto rickshaws to cars would run on ethanol and India’s imports would reduce and farmers would prosper. He said that in the last nine years, the Narendra Modi government has taken several developmental steps and has brought progress to the country.

Targeting the Congress in the program, the minister said that the Congress ruled India for almost 60 years and the slogan Garibi Hatao was given, but the poverty of the poor did not go away, but the Congress people removed their poverty. The program was also addressed by BJP state president CP Joshi, former minister Srichand Kriplani and other leaders. Earlier, in another program, Gadkari virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 11 highway projects worth Rs 5,625 crore. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also addressed the foundation stone laying and inauguration program through video conferencing from his residence in Jaipur.
