Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he had “fruitful discussions” with the Speaker of the National Assembly of France, Yael Browne Pivot, on various topics with a view to strengthening Indo-French cooperation. Modi was on a two-day official visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. After concluding his visit to France, he left for a one-day visit to the United Arab Emirates on Saturday.

Modi met Pivat over lunch at his official residence on Friday. During this, the senior leadership of the assembly was also present. The Prime Minister tweeted, that ‘interacted with National Assembly President Yael Brown Pivot and senior leaders. We had meaningful discussions on various topics with the aim of strengthening Indo-French cooperation.

Modi met French Senate President Gerard Larcher on Thursday and stressed the importance of shared values ​​of ‘democracy, liberty and equality’ forming the basic ethos of the India-France partnership. The Parliament of France consists of two houses, the Senate and the National Assembly.
