Hyundai i20 facelift teaser released, will be launched soon in India


New Delhi : Hyundai Motor is preparing to launch the facelift model of its popular hatchback i20 soon. The carmaker released the first glimpse of the upcoming model on social media ahead of the launch, which is expected to happen later this year. The new Hyundai i20 facelift model is likely to come with several updates in terms of features. When launched, the 2023 i20 hatchback will compete with other cars like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the compact segment.

The exterior of the Hyundai i20 facelift hatchback is expected to come with several design changes. The new-look i20 has already been spied testing on Indian roads several times. The spy shots indicate that the front face of the i20 will be updated with new elements like the grille and LED headlight units. The side and rear profile of the hatchback is expected to remain largely similar to the current model except for the taillight design. There could be minor updates in the alloy design as well.

The interior of the new i20 is also expected to come with additional features. Hyundai is likely to introduce a segment-first dashcam in the i20 facelift. The same dashboard can be used in this, which was introduced earlier in the Exter SUV. Apart from this, Hyundai could also add other features like electrically adjustable sunroof, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors and a large touchscreen infotainment system. The i20 already comes with features like digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charger and ambient lighting.

Hyundai is unlikely to make any changes under the hood. The new i20 is expected to be equipped with a choice of the same 1.2-litre petrol or 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol units. The 1.2-litre unit is capable of producing 82 Bhp of maximum power and 114.7 Nm of peak torque. The turbocharged unit can produce 118 Bhp of power and 172 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by either a 5-speed manual, an IVT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The current generation i20 hatchback is priced between Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 11.88 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the price of the new facelift model will be slightly higher than this.

  • Feature: The hatchback will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital driver’s display, air purifier, auto climate control, cruise control, connected car technology, wireless phone charging, auto LED headlights, sunroof, ventilated front seats and more. Features like ambient lighting can be given.

  • Safety: For passenger safety, the new i20 can get features like six airbags standard, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors and reverse camera.
