I play personalities, not roles: KK Menon

MumbaiActor KK Menon is all set for the release of his next series ‘Bombay Meri Jaan’ in which he will be seen playing the role of an honest cop. On playing a character, he said, “I play personalities, not roles.” The trailer of the series was launched in Mumbai on Monday. It is getting great response. KK has played the role of a policeman on screen earlier also.

When asked what is the difference the audience will see in his role this time, he said, ‘I play personalities on screen, not roles. No two people are alike in this world and there can be a limited number of roles. For example I can play the role of a policeman, professor, lawyer but each person is different. That’s why I like to play the personality of that person on screen.

The actor said, ‘If I have played the role of a policeman before, he was a different person. Ismail Qadri is a different person.’ Bombay Meri Jaan’ is a story of post-independence Bombay and crime. The story revolves around the conflict between a budding gangster Dara Qadri (Avinash Tiwari) and his father, the upright police officer Ismail Qadri (Kay Kay Menon).

The series is created by Rensil D’Silva and Shujaat Saudagar. Apart from KK Menon and Avinash Tiwari, the series also stars Saurabh Sachdeva, Kritika Kamra, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Amyra Dastur in supporting roles.Bambai Meri Jaan, directed by Shujaat Saudagar, will premiere on September 14.
