India expressed concern to America regarding the visit of US Ambassador to Gilgit-Baltistan


India on Thursday said it lodged its objection with the US over the recent visit of Islamabad-based US Ambassador Donald Blom to Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and called on the world community to respect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Did.

Asked about Blom’s visit, Bagchi said in a press conference, “Our position on the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir being an integral part of India is well known. We would urge the international community to respect our sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We have registered our objections with the US side regarding that visit by the US Ambassador to Pakistan,” he said. Blom had visited Gilgit-Baltistan last month. Asked about Garcetti’s comments on the matter, Bagchi said, “We don’t think the two situations are the same.”

Bagchi also said he looked forward to engaging with the new government of Maldives on all issues, and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Bagchi’s comments came when he was asked about Maldives’ newly elected President Mohammed Muizzu’s comment that foreign military forces cannot stay in Maldives. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first leader to congratulate and best wishes for Muizu. Bagchi said India looks forward to engaging with the new administration in Maldives on all issues.
