iQOO and Oneplus will compete in the mid-range

Samsung recently launched its new smartphone M34 5G in the M series. The price of 6 + 128GB variant of this phone is Rs 16,999 and the price of 8 + 128GB variant is Rs 18,999. The company has brought this phone with a large 6000mAh battery and obviously has kept the price of the phone low. We used this phone for some time, let us know how was our overall experience with this phone.Galaxy M34 5G: Design and Display
The design of this Samsung phone is similar to the previous models. LED flash is seen with triple camera setup on the rear. Talking about the rear look of the phone, it comes with a glossy finish. Fingerprints are easily visible on the rear of the phone. There is a bit of duty in terms of phone design, which makes the grip good to hold in the hand. The bottom side of the phone has been given a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is rarely seen even in budget phones these days. The fingerprint sensor is provided on the power button to unlock the phone, which is fast and responsive.

In terms of display, the Galaxy M34 5G sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ sAMOLED display with a waterdrop notch, 1000 nits peak brightness, and 120Hz refresh rate along with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. According to the price, the company has given a good display. It delivers punchy colors with good viewing angles. It offers decent readability in sunlight or outdoors. Where we were disappointed in the front of the phone was its big chin and water drop notch design. Apart from this, the panel gives a good experience.

Galaxy M34 5G: Performance and software
The phone comes with Exynos 1280 SoC paired with 128GB UFS 2.2 storage and up to 8GB of RAM. This is the same chipset that was given in the Galaxy A53 5G. At that time, this A series phone coming in the range of 30k had disappointed us a bit in terms of performance. Now a year later, Samsung has improved it by doing optimization. The lags coming in it have reduced to a great extent. This is also because the phone works on Android 13 based on the latest OneUI 5.1.

However, the app launch speed could have been improved a bit. The sudden frame drops in animation have not completely gone but the overall experience has definitely improved. With this, if you are thinking of getting this device in terms of gaming, then tell me, this is not a gaming device. It’s perfect for time-pass, for light games. If you try to do heavy gaming then the phone will heat up.

In terms of software, the smartphone comes with most of the OneUI features. Themes from the Galaxy Store, multiple Always-on Display clock styles, etc. It also has ultra data-saving feature and storage booster feature. Along with this, options like motion and gesture, dual apps etc. are also available. The device comes with June security patch out of the box. Samsung claims that the device will get security patches for 5 years and major OS upgrades for 4 years. This puts the device a step ahead of its competitors like iQOO Z7 5G, Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, as they come with 3 years of security patches.

Galaxy M34: Camera
M34 5G has a 50MP primary rear camera sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens and 2MP macro sensor. A 13MP selfie shooter has been given in the front. The primary sensor of this Samsung device works very well. Both the color and contrast of the photos are balanced and good. There was no shortage in detailing and sharpness either.

In the case of ultra-wide angle shots, there was a slight shift in the color tone. Sharpness also decreased in the primary sensor. The picture still comes out fine but the best output cannot be said. Noisy is also felt in many scenes from the picture corner.

Naturally taken selfies are fine. Skin tones come out well and sharpness was also fine. Portrait shots also do well with edge detection and deliver clear pictures. Bokeh gives natural effect. The quality of macro shots was poor. Even in low-lighting, the colors in the pictures are well captured but some noise is visible in the photos.

Galaxy M34 5G: Battery
25W fast charging support is provided in this phone with 6000mAh battery. Samsung only ships a USB-C cable in the box. That is, the adapter is not found in the box with it. Its battery backup is strong. It can be easily run for one and a half to two days even in heavy usage. However, it takes about 2 hours for the phone to be fully charged.

our decision
Samsung Galaxy M34 has performed well in many cases at this price. The phone comes with good battery life and better primary camera. The phone will meet your basic needs. In less than 20k, this device can be called value for money. Its battery life is amazing and if you are going to buy a phone for battery then it can be bought without thinking.

However, it also has some minus points. Except the primary, the rest of the camera sensors perform average. HDR support is not available in the display. Some of the pre-installed apps and the waterdrop notch disappoint. If you do not mind these small points then Samsung Galaxy M34 is a good deal.
