Panaji, 19 October (HS). The 37th National Games will be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 26 at 6.30 pm in Goa. However, these games of badminton tournament started on Thursday, much before the formal inauguration. The badminton tournament started here on Thursday morning at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sports Minister Govind Gowde and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sawant said, “This is the dream that we have cherished for the last 10 years and a lot of efforts have been made to host this event here. This edition of the National Games will be extremely successful. I hope this will serve as an ideal platform for all athletes to shine in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Olympics in the future.”

He said, “Though Goa is famous for its sea and sand, we want it to be equally celebrated for its sporting potential.” Govind Gowde said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a great vision and that India To encourage every athlete to move forward in the field of sports. He said, “Accordingly, we are going ahead with the 37th National Games Goa. We are sure that this tournament will be very successful.”
