The latest controversy has arisen over one of his statements. Prachanda said that an Indian businessman settled in Nepal had recommended him in Delhi to be appointed as the prime minister. His statement has created an uproar and the opposition has demanded his resignation. The opposition says that Prachanda’s statement has lowered the dignity of the country. In the House of Representatives, members of the main opposition Nepal Communist Party (UML) and Rashtriya Swatantra Party created a ruckus. On the other hand, members of the pro-monarchy National Democracy shouted slogans saying, ‘The prime minister appointed by New Delhi has no right to continue in office.’
