• Mashal Sports to conduct Player Auction for Season 10 in Mumbai

• More than 500 players will join the auction pool this year

• Players’ purse has increased from Rs 4.4 crore to Rs 5 crore

• 24 players from the two finalist teams of Khelo India University Games 2023 will get a place in the auction pool

Mumbai Mashal Sports, the organizer of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) has announced that the players auction for the historic Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 will be held from 8th to 9th September 2023 in Mumbai. After three seasons, the total amount that each franchisee gets to build its team has been increased from Rs 4.4 crore to Rs 5 crore.

Domestic and foreign players will be divided into four categories for the auction – A, B, C and D. Players will be given sub-categories within each category as ‘All-Rounders’, ‘Defenders’ and ‘Raiders’. The base price for each category is as follows-

Category A – Rs 30 lakh

Category B – Rs 20 lakh

Category C – Rs 13 lakh

Category D – Rs 9 lakh

It is noteworthy that the Season 10 player pool will comprise of over 500 players including 24 players from the two finalist teams of Khelo India University Games 2023.

Anupam Goswami (Head Sports League, Mashal Sports and League Commissioner, Pro Kabaddi League) said, “There is no doubt that the tenth season is a major milestone for any contemporary sports league in India. PKL Season 10 Player Auction will also be a milestone in the history of PKL. Our 12 franchises will use the player auction to select the best kabaddi players in the world for their teams, along with retention and nominations as part of the Season 10 player policy.”

PKL teams also have the option of retaining their own players from the PKL Season 9 squad as per the league policy. Franchises are allowed to retain a maximum of 6 players per PKL season under the Elite Retained Players classification subject to stipulated conditions. Players not retained by the franchise as well as players included in the pool of over 500 will be auctioned during the two-day auction process to be held in Mumbai.

Mashal Sports and Disney Star, under the auspices and approval of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), have made PKL one of the most successful sports leagues in India. The event featured the highest number of matches among all sports leagues in India. Pro Kabaddi League has changed the image of India’s indigenous sport Kabaddi and its athletes around the world along with India. Several Kabaddi playing nations have also strengthened their domestic Kabaddi programs following the participation of many of their players in the PKL.
