A senior officer of Talegaon Dabhade police station said, “We received information from the neighbors that foul smell was emanating from the flat. Mahajani lived alone in this flat. When we reached the spot and broke open the door of the flat, Mahajani was found dead inside. “It is suspected that Mahajani died three days ago,” he said.

Veteran Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani was found dead at his rented house in Talegaon Dabhade near Pune city. The police gave this information on Saturday. The body of the 77-year-old actor was found on Friday evening and it is suspected that he died three days ago, he said. According to the official, Mahajani owns a flat in Mumbai but was living in Talegaon Dabhade for the last eight months. His body has been sent for postmortem. Mahajani acted in several Marathi films between 1970 and 1980. ‘Mumbachi Faujdar’, ‘Jung’ and ‘Kalat Nakalat’ are counted among his memorable films. Mahajani’s son Gashmeer Mahajani is also an actor and is quite popular.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has condoled Mahajani’s death. He said, “Veteran Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani, who made a place in the hearts of people with his brilliant performances, passed away. May God rest his soul in peace and give strength to the Mahajani family to bear this loss. Damage done.
