Rebellion of Ajit Pawar – India The News

[ad_1]

Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar has taken oath as Deputy Chief Minister for the fifth time in Eknath Shinde’s government, giving a political jolt to his uncle. Ajit Pawar is claiming to have 40 members out of 53 members of the Nationalist Congress Party and along with Ajit Pawar, eight other MLAs have also taken oath as ministers.

On Ajit Pawar’s rebellion, Sharad Pawar says that Ajit and some colleagues have rebelled, this is not a new thing for me. I have seen before. The party he was leading in 1980 had 58 MLAs. Later everyone left, only 6 left. But I strengthened the numbers and those who left me lost. Two days ago PM Modi had said that NCP is over. Allegations of corruption were mentioned. It is clear from the joining of some of my colleagues in the government that all of them have been cleared.

Significantly, after Sharad Pawar, Ajit is considered the biggest leader in NCP. Ajit Pawar was sworn in as deputy chief minister along with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis after the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the 2019 assembly elections and backed out of ally Shiv Sena’s support. Then he had to take a U-turn under Pawar’s pressure. But, this time Ajit has taken almost the entire party with him. Last Sunday afternoon, Ajit held a meeting with the MLAs at the government residence Devagiri, where the signatures of 40 MLAs were taken in the letter of support to the Shinde government. Ajit went to meet the governor with the letter. With Ajit reaching the Raj Bhavan with big leaders like Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal and Dilip Walse Patil, there was a possibility of a big game. Shortly after, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also reached Raj Bhavan. Within no time, the court hall of the Raj Bhavan was decorated and the NCP MLAs were sworn in.

Two months ago, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar had announced to leave the post of National President. Pawar’s goal was to bring forward daughter Supriya Sule, then Pawar had said that now the time has come to turn the bread. He turned the tables and made daughter Supriya Sule the working president of the party and forgot Ajit Pawar. Today Sharad Pawar is seen paying for the same mistake.

Devendra Fadnavis has played a very important role behind this rebellion. After the 2019 assembly election results, both Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar together tried to show Fadnavis small in Maharashtra politics. Today Fadnavis has put both of them in a situation which they could not even imagine. Four days back, Pawar had tried to tease Fadnavis by saying that we have not played cricket, but we also know how to bowl the googly. In 2019, we bowled a googly, on which Devendra got bowled. Pawar was referring to the oath taken by Devendra and Ajit Pawar. After this both Ajit and Devendra had to resign. Not even four days have passed since Pawar boasted that last Sunday he was able to bring his nephew Ajit Pawar with him by breaking with a large section of the NCP.

Ajit Pawar’s rebellion in Maharashtra politics has once again proved that there is neither a permanent enemy nor a friend in politics.
