New Delhi. Reliance Jio on Monday launched India’s most affordable 4G phone ‘Jio Bharat V2’ for just Rs 999. The company says that this is a basic feature phone, the special thing of which is that the Internet can be run in it.

The new ‘Jio Bharat’ smartphone will enable the existing 250 million feature phone (2G) users to access the Internet through the ‘Jio Bharat’ platform. The beta trial for the first 1 million Jio Bharat phones in the country begins on July 7.

Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani said India still has 250 million mobile phone users who are “stuck” in the 2G era. They are unable to take advantage of internet infrastructure at a time when the world is on the cusp of 5G revolution.

When Jio was launched six years ago, he said, “We made it clear that Jio will leave no stone unturned to democratize the internet and bring the benefits of technology to every Indian. Technology will no longer be the privilege of a select few.” “

The device comes with 30 percent cheaper monthly plans and 7 times more data as compared to feature phones from other operators.

By paying Rs 123 per month, users can avail unlimited voice calling and 14 GB data for 28 days. Whereas, the other operator has a Rs 179 plan for voice calls and 2 GB data.

Even the basic voice calling services, which used to cost Rs 99 earlier, has now come down to Rs 199 for a period of 30 days.
