sachin tendulkar vishwa cup 2023 virat kohli big statement ahead of world cup news in hindi

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli overcame many hurdles during his illustrious career but the former India captain on Monday said the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 will present a new challenge which he still enjoys after a decade and a half in international cricket. The World Cup will be held in India in October-November and Kohli said he is gearing up for the challenge of playing in the World Cup at home.

Kohli said, ‘Whatever challenge is in front of you, you should be eager about it. You get excited when difficulties arise. You don’t shy away from it. Even after 15 years, I love competitions and World Cup 2023 is one of them (challenge). It excites me, I need something new that will take me to the next level. Kohli did not deny that there will be pressure of expectations on him and the team but reminded everyone that no one wants to win the World Cup more than the players.

He said, ‘The pressure is always there. Fans always say we want (the team) to win the World Cup. I would say they don’t want more from me. To be honest, I know there are expectations and feelings of people. But please know that no one wants to win more than the players. Kohli knows what it takes to win the World Cup. Under his leadership, India won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2008 and he was also a part of the Indian team that won the 50-over World Cup at home in 2011 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“The highlight of my career is obviously winning the World Cup in 2011. I was 23 at that time and perhaps I did not understand its significance. But now at the age of 34, having played many more World Cups which we have not won, so I understand the feelings of all the senior players (in 2011). Kohli said, ‘All the more for Sachin Tendulkar because it was his last World Cup. He had played several World Cups by then and winning it in his hometown Mumbai was very special for him. I mean, it was like a dream come true.’
