SCO: work together for a more just and fair world

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was held virtually on 4 July. The SCO, since its inception, has always adhered to the values of multilateralism, promoting reform, and promoting global economic growth and stability. In order to encourage developing countries to gain a greater share in international affairs, SCO members are working together to promote the development of the international order in a more equitable and reasonable direction.

There are two main forces in the world today, one is the developed countries led by the US, and the other is the emerging economies including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the “BRICS” member countries. Western countries have dominated major international affairs since World War II. But, in the face of a hundred years of changes, the influence of America and the West on world affairs is beginning to weaken. All kinds of anarchy are happening in the world one after the other, but the West is unable to compete with them. On the other hand, the feeling of increasing independence of developing countries is extremely beneficial for world peace. However, the US and the West have long used the power to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, violating the general trend of multilateral diplomacy, thereby narrowing its circle of friends.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was originally a regional cooperation organization established with the aim of promoting regional cooperation and harmonious coexistence. It was made up of China, Russia and Central Asian countries. Then India, Pakistan and other South Asian countries also joined it. These countries have a wide influence in international political life. Even one of the Indian think tanks proposed that the SCO should be developed as a non-Western global system. Within which all parties should strengthen coordination and cooperation, work together to promote the development of the international order in a more equitable and reasonable direction. It can be predicted that the SCO will play an increasingly important role in the fields of international politics, security, economy and finance in the future. This would not only benefit the interests of developing members, but would also prove to have far-reaching implications for the long-term stability of the international situation.

The healthy development of the SCO is dependent on the strict adherence by all members to the purposes and principles established at the beginning of the organization. That is, all member states will jointly maintain and strengthen regional peace, security and stability on the basis of equality, trust and good-neighborly friendship. They will jointly combat terrorism, separatism and extremism, and jointly oppose various transnational crimes, promote cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environmental protection, culture, science and technology, education, energy, transportation and finance Will give and promote the establishment of one. China and other member states will continue to adhere to the “Shanghai spirit” and work together to realize a better future for the Eurasian continent.
