Seven rebels killed in Syrian army operation

Damascus (Best Hindu News): Seven members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) rebel group were killed in an army operation in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the army attacked two HTS vehicles in the western rural area of Aleppo on Friday, killing seven rebels and wounding several others.

A Britain-based monitoring group said the death toll was likely to rise as some insurgents were seriously injured. The two sides continue to fire in northern Syria as tensions between the Syrian army and the HTS escalate.

On Monday, Syrian forces intercepted and shot down three armed drones sent by the HTS in the northwestern provinces of Idlib and Hama, according to state news agency SANA. On the same day, eight HTS rebels were killed in Russian airstrikes carried out in the Idlib region, according to the monitoring group. HTS, a former al-Qaeda affiliate, has established control over a large part of Idlib.
