New Delhi, 14 October (Hindustan Reporter). Shankar Heisnam of Manipur and Prisha Shinde of Maharashtra won the titles in their respective categories at the 28th Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship at the DLTA Complex here on Saturday.
16th seed Shankar displayed excellent baseline game and defeated seventh seed Thirumurugan V of Tamil Nadu in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to win the Boys’ Singles Under-16 title, while Prisha defeated sixth seed Anandita Upadhyaya 6-1, 6-2 and won the girls’ singles under-14 category title in the tournament. Around 1,000 players participated in this tournament across different age group categories.
Telangana’s Rishita Basireddy won the girls’ singles Under-16 title by defeating Delhi’s Aishi Bisht 6-4, 6-3 in a thrilling match in which both the players hit tremendous forehands. Top seed Hrithik Katakam of Telangana also shone on the court as he defeated Prakash Sarran of Karnataka 6-4, 6-3 to win the Boys Under-14 Singles title.
The winners received gleaming trophies. The ceremony was attended by Saket Jain, Executive Director and Business Head, Fenesta Building Systems and Balram Singh from DLTA.
