Sudan – 32 civilians killed in artillery attack in Omdurman


Khartoum (Best Hindu News) : Sudan’s emergency lawyers’ legal group said on Wednesday that 32 civilians were killed in the capital city of Omdurman after artillery shelling by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) started. The non-governmental syndicate reported that civilians, including children, were killed by SAF artillery strikes in the Ombada area of ​​Omdurman. The group said in a statement that dozens of people were injured and several homes destroyed in the attacks. The statement said the use of heavy and light artillery in civilian populated areas is a war crime and shows the disregard for the lives of civilians by both conflicting parties.

SAF is yet to comment on the incident. Violent clashes broke out on Wednesday between the SAF and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), mainly in the Ombada neighborhood in west Omdurman and around the Corps of Engineers base in the city’s southwest, according to witnesses. The country has been rocked by deadly clashes between the SAF and the RSF in Khartoum and other areas since April 15, resulting in at least three thousand deaths and more than six thousand injuries, according to data released by Sudan’s health ministry. .
