Surat: AM/NS India honored with the prestigious Mahatma Award-2023 for “CSR Excellence”. Loktej Surat, Business News


ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, the world’s two largest and renowned steel producers, has been awarded the prestigious Mahatma Award 2023& in the CSR Excellence category ahead of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, CSR Head, AM/NS India, received the award on behalf of the company from Uttam Parmar, a Gandhian and former trustee of Gujarat Vidyapeeth, founded by Mahatma Gandhi, at a function held in New Delhi on September 30. A large number of leading persons and honored guests from various fields were present in this function.

Established by social entrepreneur and philanthropist Amit Sachdeva, a proponent of India’s CSR Bill, this prestigious award highlights the important role of corporates and individuals in promoting CSR initiatives and promoting positive social change.

AM/NS India was praised for its transformational initiatives including:

  1. COVID-19 relief efforts: Providing critical assistance during the pandemic
  2. Digital Pathshala: Empowering students with digital education
  3. Project Daksh: Enhancing employability skills and providing job placement
  4. Beti Padhao Scholarship: Promoting Gender Equality in Education
  5. Padhega Bharat: Improving educational infrastructure in government schools
  6. Health Programme: Improving health care access for disenfranchised and marginalized populations. Commenting on this award and achievement, Keiji Kubota, Deputy Director, Human Resources and Administration, AM/NS India, said, “We are extremely honored and privileged to receive this award.     Dr. Yadavendu presented the keynote address on health and its effects. In which he expressed emphasis on the role of technology in advancing healthcare and in alignment with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals.
