Assi Ghat

Another legend is also prevalent about Assi Ghat, which holds a very prominent place in the Ghats of Varanasi, that Lord Rudra, a form of Lord Shiva, got angry and killed 80 demons at this place. Because of this the place became famous by the name of Assi. It is also said that Lord Rudra felt great remorse after destroying these demons and because of this he left the path of violence forever. At the same time, he had also announced that in future Kashi would be famous as a place where there would be no place for violence and the people living here would be worshipers of non-violence.

Ramnagar Fort
