Video games have the power to change the world: Idris Elba – Dainik Savera Times

Los Angeles: Hollywood star Idris Elba believes that video games have the power to change the world. The 51-year-old actor, who plays Solomon Reed in a new spy-thriller game Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, believes the industry has the potential to shed light on truly human issues, reports aceshowbiz.com. “Games have exactly the same tool set, if not more, to engage people in things they don’t understand,” the film star explained. If you want to use gaming as a portal to education, as an interface between one culture and another, that’s a really interesting place to be. I’m sure there are companies that are looking at this, but whoever can get this right.. and educate cultures about other cultures is a winner.’

Elba actually found shooting his parts for the game surprisingly challenging. “It was different and it is multidimensional,” the London-born star said. There was a component of real performance in the CGI and motion captions, and that was the beginning of this journey.’ Elba has been a fan of gaming all his life and after ‘doing so much work’ he was now keen to work on Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

‘I play a lot of video games and have done so for most of my life,’ he shared. I had an Amstrad before and almost all the other consoles too. I’m not one to watch my own performance, but I’ll play it. I’ve worked a lot on this over the years.
