We are yet to move towards social justice and empowerment


Under the inspirational leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is committed to the upliftment and empowerment of marginalized and underprivileged communities in the society such as SC, OBC, EBC, DNT, Transgender, Senior Citizen, Safai Karamcharis etc. The last nine years are witnessing remarkable progress in various fields including social, educational and economic empowerment of the people of these communities. In the last nine years, some major schemes have been implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The purpose of the post-matric scholarship for SC students to study in India is to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education for SC students from the poorest households.

The Gross Enrollment Ratio of SC students studying in class 11-12 during 2019-20 was 52.9%, which increased to 56.1% during 2020-21 and 61.5% during 2021-22. Since 2014-15, more than 4.87 crore SC students have received central assistance of about Rs 29828.80 crore. The Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC and Others is for SC students whose parents’ annual income does not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. The Gross Enrollment Ratio of SC students studying in classes 9-10 was 83 per cent during 2019-20, which increased to 84.8 per cent during 2020-21 and 84.9 per cent during 2021-22. Since 2014-15, more than 2.31 crore SC students have received central assistance of Rs 3528.17 crore. Under the Scholarship Scheme for Higher Education of Achievers (SHREYAS) and free coaching, more than 19995 students belonging to SC and OBC have been released as Central Assistance since 2014-15 to the tune of Rs.109.79 crore.

Rs 399.15 crore has been released as central assistance amount to more than 21988 SC students since 2014-15 under the top class scholarship scheme for SC. 222.24 from 2014-15 as Central Assistance to more than 950 selected students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Non-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Laborers and Traditional Artisan Categories under the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students. An amount of Rs.crore was released. Rs 1628.89 crore has been released as central assistance to more than 21066 students since 2014-15 under the National Fellowship for SC students. An amount of Rs 457.22 crore has been released as central assistance to more than 3.18 lakh students since 2014-15 under the Scheme for Residential Education in High Schools (SHRESTH) for SC students in targeted areas. Pradhan Mantri Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Yojana aims to generate additional employment opportunities through skill development, income-generating schemes and other initiatives. PM-AJAY is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, subsuming 03 erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Schemes, namely – Adarsh ​​Gram component of erstwhile Pradhan Mantri Adarsh ​​Gram Yojana; 11500 more villages have also been covered in 2022-23; 4351 villages have already been declared as Adarsh ​​Grams Special Central Assistance for SC Sub Plan; The financial assistance is Rs 50,000 or 50 per cent of the project cost, whichever is less, per beneficiary or family.

Hostel component 6 erstwhile Babu Jagjivan Ram Chatrawas Yojana The total estimated outlay for 2023-24 under PM-AJAY scheme is Rs.2050.00 crore. The National Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem Action aims to promote mechanization of cleaning operations to prevent deaths of sewer and septic tank workers and ensure the safety of sanitation workers. Capital subsidy and interest subsidy up to Rs.5.00 lakh is provided for projects funded by banks. As a part of the self-employment scheme for rehabilitation of manual scavengers, 22,294 such scavengers and their dependents have been enrolled in various skill development training programs since 2014-15. 508 districts have declared themselves free from manual scavenging. Atal Vayo Abhyudaya Yojana provides shelter, financial security, food, health care and human interaction or dignified living for senior citizens. Rs 511.81 crore has been distributed to 6,67,330 beneficiaries since 2014-15. Rs 43.13 crore has been released under the State Action Plan Scheme for Senior Citizens from 2019-20 to 2022-23. Since 2017-18, a total of 12,24,645 devices worth Rs 24,649.98 lakh have been distributed to 2,99,942 beneficiaries in 265 camps organized under RVY. Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was formulated and launched on 15th August 2020 for 272 districts of 32 State/UTs. Around 3.08 crore youth, more than 4,000 Youth Clubs, NYKS and NSS volunteers and youth clubs have participated in the campaign activities. Contact has been established with more than 13 lakh students from more than 6000 schools across the country. The Prime Minister’s Skill and Skill Development Beneficiary (PM-Daksh) aims to provide high quality skilling to those seeking a job or starting a self-employment venture. The number of beneficiaries was around 32097 in the financial year 2020-21 and around 35484 in 2022-23. Under the excellent leadership of our sensitive Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has been continuously working for the dignity, progress and all kinds of welfare schemes for the underprivileged section of the society for the last 9 years and the ministry also achieved prestigious achievements Are.
