Mumbai . Actress Zeenat Aman, who has earned herself the title of ‘Insta Queen’ with her captivating Instagram posts filled with anecdotes, took a trip down memory lane on Saturday as she reflected on the culture of gossip and tabloids in Bollywood.

The veteran actress on Saturday uploaded an old magazine cover on her Instagram, which shows that she is still weaving a controversial narrative around her. The issue of the magazine is of the year 1979.

The actress penned a long note in the caption, in which she talked about the culture of putting actors down in the olden days.

She wrote, “If the headlines are to be believed, in 1979 I cursed myself, in 1982 I was being elected, in 1984 I was out of sync, in 1985 I was headed for self-destruction and I was broke in 1998. There was a time when I subscribed to the glossies and the tabloids, but that passed too quickly. I couldn’t quite relate to the person they presented me as, because I knew That the headlines would be complimentary one day and hateful the next.”

He blamed the tabloids for not conducting proper fact-checks on the reportage and for crossing the line of confidentiality while reporting on the stars.

He further mentioned in his note: “There was little checking of facts, and no remorse for errors made. When they got the story right – it was usually a gross breach of confidentiality. When they got it wrong – those blatant lies would be taken as gospel. These “scandals” took their toll. It was its own form of public humiliation and I remember the anxiety, resentment and sadness that came with it. At some point my skin hardened, and it was realized that it was impossible for me to challenge the persona they wanted to create.

He then recalled encountering a senior editor, whom he did not name, who showed no remorse over false reporting: “Once I confronted a former editor about a malicious story, he had There were many excuses but not a single apology. That’s when I made up my mind not to take it personally. Although it was indecent, his only interest was in selling his magazines.”

The actress added, “This is all just to say – people will always find a reason to talk and hence it is probably best not to allow their opinion or perception to define your life. You can do this for yourself.
