World Cup 2023: Ravichandran Ashwin made place in the Indian team, got a chance in place of injured Axar Patel.


India’s experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin hurt to Akshar Patel Has been included in India’s Cricket World Cup 2023 team in place of. Axar suffered the injury during the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match against Bangladesh and the all-rounder failed to recover in time for the competition. Ashwin was included in the Indian cricket team for the recently concluded ODI series against Australia and he took four wickets in the two matches. Ashwin joins Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav as India’s spin options for the tournament. India will play its first match of the competition against Australia on October 8.

ICC gave update

Information was given on the website of the International Cricket Council that Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the team in place of Axar Patel. The ICC said, ‘India has been forced to make late changes to its 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Axar Patel has failed to recover in time for the World Cup after suffering a left quadriceps strain during India’s Asia Cup Super Four clash against Bangladesh.

This will be the third World Cup for Ashwin.

The ICC further said that as a result spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel could not play in the final of the Asia Cup. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been named in his place, who had an impressive performance on his return to ODI cricket in the recently concluded series against Australia. Where he took four wickets in two matches. This will be the third World Cup for Ashwin, who participated in the 2011 and 2015 editions, and possibly the last.
